The Latrobe 4th of July All-American Apple Pie Bake-Off
Thursday, July 4: Dessert Drop-off between 1:30-2:00 at the Large Pavillion
Contestants will create a dessert using apple pie as inspiration. This could be anything from a standard apple pie to a specialty cookie, cupcake, or whatever you can think up! Entries should be delivered at the small pavilion between 1:30 to 2:00 .The winners will be announced at 3:30 pm. Please pre-register HERE:
There will be three categories:
-Amateurs
-Baking Business or Restaurant
-Youth (16 and under)
GUIDELINES
This is a free event.
Only one submission per baker.
Submissions must be home-cooked (not store-bought).
Baked goods are to be prepared in a sanitary manner.
All baked goods must be fully baked and complete. Contestants must prepare a tasting for 5 judges.
Bakers must use their own dish and decorations.
Please feel free to make extra as we would absolutely love to use them in a bake sale to support the Celebration.
Please do not submit anything that requires refrigeration.
Each entry should be marked with the name of your baked good.
Contest Day:
1. Check-in begins at 1:30 pm at the Legion Keener Small Pavilion. Drop-off ends at 2:00 pm.
2. Contestants are welcome to be present during judging.
3. Judges will announce the winner at 3:30 pm at the event.
The Scoring System:
Contestants will be judged on taste, creativity, originality, and appearance.
The Contest Committee will tally all of the ballots. The contestant with the highest score will be the winner!
PRIZES:
Amateur: Coveted Celebration Chef Hat and $100 Visa Gift card
Established Bakery/Business/Restaurant: Coveted Celebration Chef Hat, Announcement from stage, Mention in a newspaper article, & Facebook post all about you!
Youth: Coveted Celebration Apron, $50 Amazon Gift Card, and Baking Supplies
